Vincent Crawford
Biography
Judge Crawford has served on the on Bench for going on 20 years. Judge Vincent C. Crawford is a native of Savannah, Ga. He is a 1987 cum laude graduate of Florida A & M University. A 1990 graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law. He began his legal career with Georgia Legal Services in the fall of 1990. In 1993 he was appointed to the position of Assistant District Attorney with the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office and in April of 1995 he was appointed DeKalb County District Attorney’s office. He was a solo practitioner from 1997 to 2005. On February 27, 2005, he was appointed to the position of Associate Magistrate Judge for DeKalb County Magistrate Court. On March 24, 2006, he was appointed to Judge of Juvenile Court where he currently serves. He was appointed Chief Judge of Dekalb County Juvenile Court from 2018 –2022.
Awards & Honors
In 2016 he was an invited to be a guest speaker at the White House by then President on the use of technology in Juvenile Court cases. His previous awards include 2023 State Bar of Georgia “Willie Jake Lovette “Award from the Child & Parent Attorney of the State Bar, 2022 Florida A & M University “Distinguish Alumni” Induction & Awarded from the School of Social Science (annual guest lecturer) , 2019 Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc Augustus Witherspoon Community Service Award , 2017 Multi-Agency Alliance for Children Shining Star Award, 2012 Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Outstanding Leadership Award , 2011 Dekalb County Juvenile Court Distinguish Service Award , 2009 Georgia Youth Empowerment service award from youth in Foster Care , 2009 Romae T. Powell Award from Juvenile Court Association of Georgia Probation Officers, 2010-2011 Bridges Center “Community Bridge Builder Award”, 2008 Mercer University School of Law, BLSA Service Award, 2007 Men of Redan High School Service Appreciation Award (Mock Trial Team Coach). He previously served as Chairman of the Georgia Supreme Court Improvement Initiative for seven years. He currently serves as a lead mentor with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Dekalb Alphas mentoring initiative.
